This is the project i did in Excel showing the amount (percentage) of different populations that build up a community.

Community

Community
Community: All the different populations that live together in an area.
For example: the community is where the Populations of the lions, zebras, monkeys, etc live.
Here I am going to give you a quick look to what build up a community in the African animal communities…
There is the Lions population profile:
Population
The lion population in Africa has been reduced by half since the early 1950s. Today, fewer than 21,000 remain in all of Africa. The Gir Wildlife Sanctuary in India contains approximately 200 lions.

The mountain gorilla profile:
Population
Eastern lowland gorilla numbers have rapidly declined to below 5,000 today. Critically endangered, there are fewer than 300 Cross River gorillas. Mountain gorillas, another endangered subspecies, number at around 700. A recent survey has shown that there are around 150,000-200,000 western lowland gorillas.

Population of Zebras

Population
Population is: All the members of one specie in a particular area.
For example: a population is like a herd of animals of the same specie. I am going to tell about the population of zebras…
POPULATION:
Equus zebra: 600-700 in the wild.
LIFESPAN:
Members of the genus Equus (horses, donkeys and zebras) can live 25 to 45 years.
FOOD:
Mountain zebras feed on a variety of grasses.
OFFSPRING:
Foals (young mountain zebras) weight 55 pounds at birth. Mares normally give birth to their first foal when they are between three and six years of. Normally they then give birth to one foal every one to three years until they are 24.
THREATS:
The spread of agriculture is one of the main threats to the mountain zebra. Their habitat is destroyed to make room for new farmland, and they are hunted and killed so that domestic livestock can graze on the land. Mountain zebras are also hunted for their skins.

Difference between population and communitiy

we have learned some concepts that relate to this topic and that is important for you to know before you continue reading my blog.

Population: All the members of one specie in a particular area.

Community: all the different population that live together in an area.

EX:the equus zebra is a specie that fill up like a population on the African ecosystem, and the African ecosystem is the community.

To create a community you must have many populations like for example : the populations of the zebras, the lions, the giraffes all of those make up one hole community. They make up a community by using the same resources such as : water, food, shelter, etc.

project introduction

Hy my name is Camila Vela and in my computer class i have been assigned a project of science. I am going to work in Gaicha Kenya Zoo where I will teach about the difference between a population and communities of organisms, so that kids in 6Th grade know what they are going to learn next year.

My role in the class is teaching and helping students understand the difference between population and communities of organisms. As an example i am going to use Equus Zebra as population in the African ecosystem. They are a specific specie than can mate and produce offspring , the community where they belong is along with lions, giraffes, monkeys, elephants, etc.

I will be using this blog to explain what I am going to teach students with new topics of things I will teach. I will also create an excel project with a quadrant and how to understand it. And at last I will create a power point presentation with images web pages and games so that students can learn in a fun way.
